Prints are where most people start collecting, because an original print by a good artist costs a fraction of their paintings and is no less their own work. Etching, screenprint, linocut and lithograph are all made by hand, one at a time.

Ask about the edition size and where in the edition your print sits. A numbered edition of twenty is a different thing from an open edition. Check that it is a hand pulled print rather than a digital reproduction of another artwork, because the two are sold at very different prices and the words used for them overlap.
Frame prints behind glass with an acid free mount and keep them out of direct sun. Paper is the least forgiving surface in this list and the damage is not reversible.
