Canberra is a small city with an outsized craft sector, which comes down to two institutions and a long habit of public commissioning. The result is a concentration of glass, ceramics and textile work that a city this size would not otherwise support.
Every town on this page has one of its own. Buying from someone in the next suburb usually means you can go and see the piece first, and carry it home yourself.
No work listed in Australian Capital Territory yet
Artists choose whether their work is shown publicly, and nobody here has switched it on so far. This page fills itself in as soon as one does.
No work has been listed in Australian Capital Territory yet, so here is what other makers around the country currently have available. Each piece says who made it, and their page says where they work.
Everything here is within twenty minutes of everything else, so seeing work before buying is straightforward. The city also has a long tradition of commissioning, and a lot of Canberra makers are comfortable taking a commission brief, which is worth asking about.
The glass work is the thing Canberra is genuinely known for, and it has an international reputation built over forty years. The art school has kept a steady supply of makers in the city, and a good share of them stay. Ceramics and printmaking are strong as well, and the surrounding region has a scattering of studios within an easy drive.
Every piece has its own page with a way to write to the artist directly. You send an enquiry, they answer it themselves, and you settle payment and collection between you. ArtFlow Pro does not take a commission on the sale and does not sit in the middle of the conversation.
Yes. The price on a listing is set by the person who made the work. There is no gallery margin added on top and no bidding.
That is between you and the artist, and many are happy to arrange it. Ask in your enquiry. Seeing a piece in person is the main practical advantage of buying from someone in your own area.
The artist arranges it, so ask about it when you enquire. Collection in person is common for larger or fragile work, and it is usually the cheapest and safest option if you are close enough.
Create an account, catalogue a piece, and switch on public listing for it. Listing is off by default, so nothing of yours appears publicly until you choose it. The free tier is a real one rather than a trial.
Catalogue what you have made, give every piece a page you can send to a buyer, and appear on this one. Listing is off until you switch it on, and the free tier does not expire.
