Victoria is small enough to cross in a day and dense with makers, which is a useful combination if you want to see work in person before you buy it. Melbourne is the centre of the trade, but the goldfields towns north west of it hold more artists per head than anywhere else in the country.
Every town on this page has one of its own. Buying from someone in the next suburb usually means you can go and see the piece first, and carry it home yourself.
No work listed in Victoria yet
Artists choose whether their work is shown publicly, and nobody here has switched it on so far. This page fills itself in as soon as one does.
No work has been listed in Victoria yet, so here is what other makers around the country currently have available. Each piece says who made it, and their page says where they work.
Almost everything in this state is within a few hours of Melbourne, so studio visits are realistic rather than a nice idea. Buying direct also means you are talking to the person who made the thing, which is the only reliable way to find out how it was made and what it needs.
Castlemaine and Daylesford are the ones people underestimate. Both have maker populations far out of proportion to their size, built up over decades of artists leaving Melbourne for cheaper space. Bendigo and Ballarat carry the bigger regional galleries. The Mornington Peninsula and the surf coast around Torquay and Lorne run to painting and coastal ceramics, and Bright and the alpine towns have a strong woodwork tradition.
Every piece has its own page with a way to write to the artist directly. You send an enquiry, they answer it themselves, and you settle payment and collection between you. ArtFlow Pro does not take a commission on the sale and does not sit in the middle of the conversation.
Yes. The price on a listing is set by the person who made the work. There is no gallery margin added on top and no bidding.
That is between you and the artist, and many are happy to arrange it. Ask in your enquiry. Seeing a piece in person is the main practical advantage of buying from someone in your own area.
The artist arranges it, so ask about it when you enquire. Collection in person is common for larger or fragile work, and it is usually the cheapest and safest option if you are close enough.
Create an account, catalogue a piece, and switch on public listing for it. Listing is off by default, so nothing of yours appears publicly until you choose it. The free tier is a real one rather than a trial.
Catalogue what you have made, give every piece a page you can send to a buyer, and appear on this one. Listing is off until you switch it on, and the free tier does not expire.
