Australian studio glass has an international reputation that is out of proportion to the number of people making it, built largely out of Canberra and Adelaide over the last forty years. Blown, cast and kiln formed work are three different crafts sold under one word.
The same medium, narrowed to one state. Useful if you would rather not freight something fragile across the country.
No work listed in glass yet
Artists choose whether their work is shown publicly, and nobody here has switched it on so far. This page fills itself in as soon as one does.
No work has been listed in glass yet, so here is what other makers around the country currently have available. Each piece says who made it, and their page says where they work.
Ask which of those three it is, because it explains the price. Cast glass takes weeks in a kiln and the failure rate is high, which is why it costs what it does. Check for the small bubbles and marks that come with hand blown work, and understand that they are evidence rather than faults.
Glass wants a stable surface and no direct heat. Wash by hand in warm water. Coloured glass in a sunny window will throw light around the room beautifully and will not fade, which makes it one of the few things on this list that likes a bright spot.
Each piece has its own page with an enquiry form that goes straight to the maker. You agree price, payment and delivery with them. There is no commission taken out of the sale and no auction.
Everything listed is made by the artist selling it. Where a piece is one of an edition, the listing says so and the artist will tell you the edition size if you ask.
Some artists prefer to discuss price on enquiry, particularly for larger or commissioned work. Those listings show Price on enquiry rather than a number, and you get an answer by writing to them.
Many of the artists here take commissions. It is not a listed option, so ask in an enquiry and describe what you have in mind, including your budget and when you need it.
Yes. Set up an account, add a piece with photographs and measurements, and turn on public listing. Nothing is public until you say so, and the free tier does not expire.
Catalogue what you have made, give every piece a page you can send to a buyer, and appear on this one. Listing is off until you switch it on, and the free tier does not expire.
