"Swirl Carved Vessel": Mid-fired clay artwork featuring studio floating blue over tenmoku glaze, carved design. Functional, wheel-thrown piece from the Artisan series.
The Swirl Carved Vessel from our Artisan series is a mid-fired, wheel-thrown piece finished in a floating blue glaze over rich tenmoku. Intricately hand-carved swirls add movement and texture, while its altered form gives it a sculptural presence. Both functional and decorative, this one-of-a-kind vessel brings a quiet elegance to contemporary interiors.
Mid Fire Clays are a type of pottery clay that are fired to a temperature range of 1180-1240°C. They are gaining popularity among potters because they achieve the sought after qualities in stoneware of strength, durability and finish when fired to the lower temperatures of Mid Fire.
Artistic objects made from clay and fired to create pottery, vases, or decorative objects.
Used to describe experimental works or those with exposed unglazed clay surfaces. Often seen as interesting rather than elegant.
A collection where the artist personally selects and holds their favorite creations, showcasing a deeply personal reflection of their journey, evolution, and the themes that resonate most with them.
Floating Blue glaze is a mid-fire, variegated glaze known for its deep blue hues and the appearance of depth, resembling water. Its surface can vary from glossy to semi-matte, often exhibiting streaks or spots of lighter blues and greens, creating a visual effect that seems to "float" over the surface of the ceramic piece. This glaze is popular for its unique and unpredictable finish, making each piece distinct.
This unique ceramic piece features a thrown vessel that has been intentionally altered, creating an intriguing interplay between form and function. The artist's skillful manipulation of the clay while on the wheel, followed by deliberate modifications, results in a striking and unconventional work that challenges traditional notions of ceramic vessels.
Removing clay to create decoration or shape in the clay body, often using tools to incise or sculpt the clay, adding depth and dimension to the work.
