"Seaside Rock Vessel" reflects basalt rocks, that are a regular sight on the south coast of NSW.
"Seaside Rock Vessel" is a hand-crafted clay piece inspired by the enduring beauty of NSW’s basalt rocks. It is wheel-formed in mid-fire clay and 'altered' to resemble the shape of a rock. It is glazed in tenmoku and the studio floating blue.
white, smooth white mid-fire stoneware clay
Artistic objects made from clay and fired to create pottery, vases, or decorative objects.
Used to describe experimental works or those with exposed unglazed clay surfaces. Often seen as interesting rather than elegant.
The sale of artworks through a physical gallery space, where the gallery represents artists and handles the promotion, display, and transactions of the art pieces.
This unique ceramic piece features a thrown vessel that has been intentionally altered, creating an intriguing interplay between form and function. The artist's skillful manipulation of the clay while on the wheel, followed by deliberate modifications, results in a striking and unconventional work that challenges traditional notions of ceramic vessels.
Floating Blue glaze is a mid-fire, variegated glaze known for its deep blue hues and the appearance of depth, resembling water. Its surface can vary from glossy to semi-matte, often exhibiting streaks or spots of lighter blues and greens, creating a visual effect that seems to "float" over the surface of the ceramic piece. This glaze is popular for its unique and unpredictable finish, making each piece distinct.
This vessel has been glazed and fired to allow it to be used in domestic and commercial settings. It's waterproof and dishwasher safe.
