Artists choose whether their work is shown publicly, and nobody here has switched it on so far. This page fills itself in as soon as one does.
Ask what it was fired to and whether it is food safe, because those two answers tell you most of what you need to know about how you can use it. Wood fired and salt glazed pieces vary from one to the next by design, so the photograph is a guide and not a contract. If you are buying a set, ask whether the pieces were made together.
Castlemaine and Daylesford are the ones people underestimate. Both have maker populations far out of proportion to their size, built up over decades of artists leaving Melbourne for cheaper space. Bendigo and Ballarat carry the bigger regional galleries. The Mornington Peninsula and the surf coast around Torquay and Lorne run to painting and coastal ceramics, and Bright and the alpine towns have a strong woodwork tradition.
